GOAL |
The Children’s Foundation For Health and Fitness, Inc. was founded in January of 2006. Our goal is to offer information to families to encourage slowing the rate of weight gain while achieving normal growth and development in children. Our key recommendations for reaching this goal include making small decreases in food and beverage calorie intake while increasing physical activity. We present it to children in ways that are interesting and fun.

-
It is estimated that 30% of children in the United States are obese or overweight. More than 80% of obese 12-year-olds will be overweight adults.*
-
A high prevalence of overweight and obesity is a great public health concern. Excess body fat leads to co-morbidities such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and stroke.
-
Emotionally, children can experience problems with self-esteem, which often lead to behavior disorders contributing to poor grades, and in severe cases, suicide.
